Gokyo Valley Trek- Explore World's Highest Freshwater Lakes
Usually described as Classical
trek in Khumbu region, Gokyo Valley trek is one of the best alternative trek
for Everest Base Camp. Gokyo Valley trek has one of the least crowded trail in
Everest region which is also the reason for its increasing demand by the
trekkers. During this trek you get to explore World Highest freshwater
lakes(Gokyo Lakes), glaciers & panoramic Himalayan views from Gokyo ri
which stands at 5360m elevation. The trail to Gokyo Valley follows same route
of Everest Base camp upto Namche Bazaar & then follows Dhole to Gokyo.
The main highlight of Gokyo
Valley trek is Gokyo lakes & climbing Gokyo ri. Gokyo Lakes are a
series of six wonderful glacial lakes at altitude of between 4700m to 5000m
where as Gokyo ri is the mountain overlooking the Gokyo Valley. The climb to
Gokyo ri offers majestic view of Mt. Cho Oyu & Mt. Everes. One might find
the trail to Gokyo Valley challenging as the journey is mixture of trekking
& mountaineering but the reward after the challenge is something that you wouldn't
want to miss. You start off your trek with a short flight to Lukla from
Kathmandu & continous trek for several days from their. We pass through several
small local settlements & Budhhist monasteries on our way to Gokyo Valley. You'll
be staying at local teahouses during the Wholle trek. Gokyo Valley trek provide
trekkers with an opportunity to discover the unexplored small settlements along
the way & explore the diverse landscape of the valley dominated by the
giant mountains all around.
